The Met Gala Ball was held May 5, in New York City and of course it is known as fashions biggest night. This year’s dress code (ball gowns for the ladies) may not have served all of the female guests well (hello, Rita Ora) but it certainly gave the men a fighting chance at getting noticed. For this we must thank Anna Wintour, who specified that male attendees wear White Tie (the main components being tails, white bow tie, top hat optional). The strict dress code was part of Wintour’s efforts to make this year’s event more sophisticated, after last year’s punk-themed event made for some questionable outfit choices. But there was an added reason Wintour wanted to make this Met Ball ‘high fashion’ – because it also feted the reopening of the Costume Institute as the Anna Wintour Costume Center. Here is a collection of some of my favorite gala attendees.
